Former Democratic presidential hopeful Amy Klobuchar is voicing her opinion of President Donald Trumpâs response to the coronavirus pandemic, and it is not a positive one.
Klobuchar appeared on âThe Viewâ on Tuesday with her husband who tested positive for the coronavirus and has since recovered, as IJR previously reported.
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg asked Klobucharâs husband how he felt about what he was hearing from the Trump administration. He explained it is necessary to follow the advice of scientists and doctors.
Klobuchar chimed in referencing Trumpâs recent controversial coronavirus treatment suggestions.
âSo many people watch the president, heâs the leader of our country. And when you see him, whether heâs joking or not, literally looking at people and saying, basically implying oh you can chug bleach or you know maybe we can inject some light into you,â Klobuchar said.
She added, âThat is the exact opposite of what a leader should be doing.â

Trump first mentioned the idea of using disinfectant and light injections as treatments of the coronavirus during a White House Coronavirus Task Force press briefing last week, as IJR previously reported.
He later clarified his comments, claiming he meant them to be sarcastic.
Klobuchar went on to list the things she believes is missing from Trumpâs plan to combat the coronavirus including testing, protective equipment, and national leadership.
âThatâs what the problem is right now. Itâs not only what he says, which we can rant and rave about all we want, itâs also what he hasnât done,â Klobuchar said.
She closed the exchange reiterating testing is something the administration should be focusing on.
âYouâve got to have a national testing strategy and get those national tests out to every state in the country,â Klobuchar said.
Her comments come just a week after Congress and the White House came to an agreement on a nearly $500 billion coronavirus relief package, which includes $25 billion for a national testing plan.
