Attorney General William Barr is receiving support from White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany as he testifies before the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday for the first time at a hearing before Congress in over a year.
Appearing on Fox Newsâ âFox and Friendsâ on Tuesday, McEnany was asked what her response is to Democrats who believe Barr is only testifying to ârun interferenceâ for President Donald Trump.
McEnany argued Democrats have an issue with Barr because he is interested in unearthing the truth about âRussiagate.â
âThatâs not at all the case. Attorney General Barr has done an incredible job and the real problem that Democrats have with Attorney General Barr is that heâs actually taking âRussiagateâ seriously: this bogus sham effort that was launched against President Trump when he was just a candidate and went into his administration,â McEnany said.
She added, âThe fact that Bill Barr is looking into why the Obama Administration spied on Trump campaign is their real problem. That he is in seek of the truth. And, that is their problem with Attorney General Barr.â
Watch her comments below:
Co-host Steve Doocy played a clip of an interview Fox Newsâ Maria Bartiromo had with former Obama White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett asking her about how the Obama administration âused or had a connection to the Steele dossier.â
Bartiromo asked Jarret if Obama directed âany of this.â
Jarret explained it is not how their investigations work, and they leave it to the intelligence community to provide the necessary information.
She argued the dossier is âone piece of a much bigger puzzle.â
Doocy asked McEnany if Jarretâs comments change anything about Trumpâs claim that he has been spied on.
âNo, it doesnât at all. This is another case of the Obama administration officials trying to cover up what they did to this president,â McEnany said.
She added, âThe fact is, this president was exonerated, he did nothing wrong.â
