President Donald Trump is receiving backlash from a political commentator after making comments about Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah).
On Wednesdayâs MSNBC âMorning Joeâ show, Joe Scarborough took some time to address Trumpâs remarks surrounding Romneyâs coronavirus test results.
Scarborough read Trumpâs tweet.
âThis is really great news! I am so happy I can barely speak. He may have been a terrible presidential candidate and an even worse U.S. Senator, but he is a RINO, and I like him a lot!â
Romney released his own statement in response to testing negative for the coronavirus, as IJR reported.
In between reading the tweet, Scarborough pointed out that it was âsarcasm of course.â
Mika Brzezinski, co-host and Scarboroughâs wife, asked Scarborough if he questions Trumpâs stability.
âWell, of course, Mika, we do every day,â Scarborough said.
Watch his comments below:
Scarborough explained how Romney is at a higher risk of contracting the coronavirus due to his age.
âThis couldâve been a death sentence for him. His wife has underlying conditions,â Scarborough said, adding, âIf he were positive, it couldâve been a death sentence for her.â
Scarborough then proceeded to explain how Trump continues to attack lawmakers despite being in the middle of this crisis.
âDonald Trump cannot, even in these times, refrain from attacking somebody who is part of the United States Senate,â Scarborough said, adding, âWeâre all in this together, the president said, and I agree with him.â
Scarborough suggested Trump should be focused on explaining to the American people how he is getting more resources out to those who need them.
He closed the program by saying if anyone else tweeted something like this they would be considered unfit.
âIf any American put out a tweet like that, with this type of crisis weighing down on them, they would be considered to be unfit,â Scarborough said.
